VERMICULITE
Exfoliated vermiculite
what is the Vermiculite?

VERMICULITE is a group of hydrated lamellar minerals, such as aluminum, iron and magnesium silicates, which, due to their appearance, resemble mica. It comes in the form of flat, thin sheets that contain microscopic water particles inside.
Subjected to an exfoliation process (dehydration through heat), a material is obtained consisting of bellows-shaped granules that contain tiny air cells, which give it high insulating value and its low weight.
It comes in different granule sizes depending on its application.
Being the sizes:
TERMITA Nº0 approximate granule size 0.2 – 1 mm
TERMITA Nº1 approximate granule size 0.5 – 2 mm
TERMITA Nº2 approximate granule size 0.5 – 3 mm
TERMITA Nº3 approximate granule size 1 – 4 mm
It is a very versatile product since it is used in various sectors with very different uses, among the main fields where it is used are:
Agriculture:
It is mainly used for hydroponic, horticultural, fruit and ornamental crops. As well as the ideal substrate for: mixtures with peat, compost, organic fertilizers…
Animal Feed
Thanks to its great absorption and fluidity capacity, and being a chemically and bacteriologically inert product, it is used as an additive in the manufacture of pre-mixtures and feed for animal feed.
Construction:
Termite can be used as a thermal insulator and for protection against fire. As well as to lighten structures. It is also used in the manufacture of projection or fireproof mortars and plasters.
Packaging:
The mineral Vermiculite is used as a powerful absorbent of soluble liquids (water, acids and other substances) as well as fats and oils.
Thermal Resistance to Friction:
Termite, thanks to its high resistance to abrasion and high temperatures, and its fireproof properties, is used in the manufacture of parts subject to friction such as brake discs, ovens, etc…
