The Interprofessional of Strawberries and Red Fruits of Andalusia, Interfresa, has begun the efforts to create and celebrate each year of the World Red Fruit Day in light of scientific studies that support its multiple nutritional properties and the benefits that its consumption brings to health.
This was explained in a press conference by the president of the entity, José Luis García-Palacios, who indicated that as a starting point for this project the interprofessional organization will celebrate next Monday April 12 this day with the launch of a campaign to disseminate the healthy values of these fruits.
For the official formalization of World Red Fruit Day, Interfresa has already requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to undertake the pertinent actions before the FAO – the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – so that World Berry Day “is, from now on, a fixed date on the calendar, which allows us to celebrate and globally value all the benefits that its consumption brings to health.”
The first step, he explained, will be to make visible this Monday, April 12, the first celebration of World Red Fruit Day with a campaign on social networks and media that influences precisely in making the Spanish population aware of the importance of consuming red fruits daily, since “they are the most complete fruits from the point of view of healthy nutrition and are essential to strengthen our body and prevent numerous diseases.” span>
For this reason, an essential aspect of this campaign has been to have the scientific advice of one of the largest international specialists in nutrition, sports medicine and endocrinology, such as Dr. Antonio Escribano Zafra.
The campaign started yesterday coinciding with World Health Day and will have its most intense days starting on Monday, April 12 with actions to spread the properties of red fruits, their health benefits and the possibilities they also offer on a gastronomic level; For this reason, the campaign has as its motto the textual and graphic combination “With + Health”.
Taking into account the pandemic situation, the campaign has not been able to focus on actions involving direct citizen participation, but has instead opted for a strong presence on social networks and media of communication, with the participation of a series of ambassadors.
These prescribers are the scientific communicator, doctor in Pharmacy and graduate in Nutrition Marián García, better known as ‘Boticaria García’; the chef and gastronomic communicator Daniel del Toro; and the actress, presenter and comedian Silvia Abril.
